Davis Animal Hospital offers diagnosis and treatment solutions for your pet’s dermatology issues. We strive to identify the underlying cause of your pet’s condition and provide targeted treatment.
Signs and Symptoms of Dermatology Issues
Pet dermatology issues are uncomfortable and potentially harmful to your pet. Please schedule an appointment if you notice your pet experiencing any of the following symptoms:
- Ear infections
- Generally itchy skin
- Hair loss
- Inflamed toes or ears
Pet Dermatology
Our veterinary team is experienced in the diagnosis of many dermatological conditions. We begin with an exam to determine the appropriate course of action and explore a variety of potential causes, such as:
- Environmental allergies (grass or pollen)
- Food allergies
- Parasites (fleas, ticks, mites)
In the event of a parasite infestation, we can provide a medicated bath through our grooming service. Our on-site pet pharmacy also carries an assortment of preventives to protect your pet and your family.
Pet Allergy Testing
Based on the results of your pet’s physical exam, further allergy testing maybe required, such as:
- Blood test
Identifies common allergens - Food trial
Places your pet on a strict prescription diet to rule out a food allergy - Skin scratch test
Performed by referral to a veterinary dermatologist for advanced cases
Pet Allergy Treatment
After your pet’s allergen is appropriately identified, customized desensitizing injections are developed. The injections can be administered at home, over a series of weeks.
